This is a really big question still dangling in the minds of many talented students. Making a compendium is not that easy. If you know how to make one for yourself, you are pretty much sure about your plan for JEE, which is fabulous!
It is not that compendium making is too tough when I say the above statement. When you sit down to study don't ever think about all this, like making a compendium and all, you don't know where you are and what you gonna be in that particular topic once it finishes. The best time to make a compendium is, sometime after the topic has been studied by you completely, not only in class or text wise but also the problems should have been practiced sufficiently. Once you do that you know exactly where to shift your focus. There is a lot of stuff that is written in your books, but not all of them are framed in your questions, some are just kept aside as facts! So, after your problem solving is done you know exactly what you want to write in your compendium to make it usable atleast in the future so that you can solve problems after going through your compendium.
Now just this doesn't make my compendium really worth taking me to the JEE level. I know that the JEE level has dropped down a lot, but still considering the JEE level to be a somewhat standard one, this compendium won't take you to that level. For that you require the inclusion of a section which can be called "Star Marked Questions". Just when you are completely out of practice from that topic, this section works like a star for you. Don't read that section always, the section will then loose its effect later on. This section should contain problems solved in some very elegant ways and some unique problems which need a specific approach for quick and small solutions.
Now to specially mention Inorganic Chemistry, which is really a rote memory topic, write something like a comparison sort of thing between closely related elements and some striking features that you come across. Like for a task you can go and read and find out why selenium is quite unique in its group. That's what the examiners focus is on (for eg).
